Sts. Martha, Mary, and Lazarus

Patron Saint of Cooks

Martha and her siblings Mary and Lazarus are remembered as close friends of Jesus. The Bible depicts Jesus as a welcome guest at the home of Mary and Martha. These sisters even call for Jesus when their brother Lazarus is dying. After Jesus raises Lazarus from the dead, he said “I am the resurrection and the life; whoever believes in me, even if he dies, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?” Martha replies, “Yes, Lord. I have come to believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God, the one who is coming into the world” (John 11:25-27). May Martha and Mary's early trust in the Lord’s identity be an example for all of us.
