St. Etheldreda

St. Etheldreda was a seventh-century East Anglian princess in what is modern-day England. In her youth, she was married for political reasons. After her husband’s early death, her father remarried her again to another prince for more political capital. Throughout all of these arranged marriages, Etheldreda remained a virgin and committed herself to works of charity to those in her area.
