Nativity of St. John the Baptist

The Nativity of St. John the Baptist commemorates the birth of John the Baptist who foretold the coming of the Messiah, Jesus Christ. St. John the Baptist’s role was to prepare the people for the coming of Jesus—he did this by teaching the people how to reform their lives and prepare for the Kingdom of God. St. John the Baptist was humbled to baptize Jesus in the Jordan River as a pivotal act in his ministry.
