Bl. Benedetta Bianchi Porro

Bl. Benedetta Bianchi Porro was an Italian laywoman who lived from 1936 to 1964. When she was three months old, she contracted polio, a disease which impacted the rest of her life. She was devoted to her faith in her youth, and in 1953, she began medical school. However, her time in medical school was cut short when a rare medical condition led to her needing many surgeries and an overall decline in her health. Throughout her suffering, she looked to the Blessed Mother to help her through her challenges. When she died in 1964, her holiness was well-known, both in her home community and in her medical school.
