Sts. Philip and James

Patron Saints of Uruguay

Sts. Philip and James share a feast day because their relics were brought to Rome at the same time. Today, we honor St. James the Lesser, whom we do not know much about except that he was a follower of Jesus. Like many other disciples, it took a long time for Philip to realize who Jesus truly was. Sts. Philip and James serve as an example of ordinary men who became the foundations of the Church.
