St. Zygmunt Gorazdowski

Patron Saint of Sisters of Saint Joseph

St. Zygmunt Gorazdowski was born in the mid–nineteenth century in Poland. Even though childhood tuberculosis delayed his ordination to the priesthood, he was ordained in 1871. He spent most of his time as a priest in western Ukraine, where he focused on both the needs of the poor and homeless as well as the spiritual education of all his parishioners. He wrote a catechism as well as other books for parents and children in his parish. He also cared for seminarians who could not afford to attend seminary as well as the homeless in his parish.
