St. Thomas, Apostle

Patron Saint of India

St. Thomas was one of the Twelve Apostles and is often referred to as "Doubting Thomas" due to the skepticism he shows over the Resurrection of Christ in John's Gospel. After the events of the Gospels, tradition holds that he sailed to India to preach the Good News, successfully laying the foundation for many of today's Christian communities in that country. He was martyred around AD 72. He is the patron saint of India.
