St. Joseph of Arimathea

Patron Saint of Funeral Directors and Undertakers

St. Joseph of Arimathea was a follower of Christ who helped bury Jesus after his crucifixion. He is mentioned in all four of the Gospels as assisting in taking Jesus down from the cross and burying him. In the Gospel of John, Joseph does this with the help of St. Nicodemus, a saint with whom he shares his feast day. Joseph of Arimathea is a model for a Christians because of his faithfulness and commitment to Jesus even after seeing his crucifixion.
