Patron Saint of Farmers

St. Isidore the Farmer was born in 1070 in Madrid. At a very young age, he became a farmer. He married Maria de la Cabeza who also became a saint. Together, they had a son who died at a very young age. St. Isidore would attend Mass every morning before going to work. As he worked, St. Isidore would pray, dedicating himself to a life of work and prayer. He died in 1130 and was canonized in 1622. He is the patron saint of farmers and rural areas, as well as the patron of Madrid.
