St. Bernadine of Siena

Patron Saint of Advertising

St. Bernardine of Siena was a dynamic follower of Christ who lived to share the Gospel, sometimes to crowds as large as 30,000 people. When he was 20, he gathered a group of men to help him volunteer at a hospital during the plague. At the age of 22, he entered the Franciscans. He spent many years in solitude and then he felt called to preach. He would travel from town to town on foot and speak for hours. St. Bernardine designed the symbol of “IHS,” the first three letters of “Jesus” in Greek, on a burning sun which is often depicted in art to this day.
