St. Alphonsus Rodriguez

Patron Saint of Jesuit Brothers and Majorca, Spain

St. Alphonsus Rodriguez was a lay Jesuit brother from Spain in the fifteenth and sixteenth century. He initially was married and had three children, but by his mid-thirties, his wife and all three of his children had died. He decided to join the Jesuits after having known St. Peter Faber, a Jesuit, in his youth. After becoming a brother in the Jesuits, Alphonsus was a porter at the local college for the next forty-six years. He was renowned for his humble service to each and every person he encountered, treating each person he met as he would treat Christ.
