Bl. Gertrude Prosperi

Bl. Gertrude Prosperi was a nineteenth century Italian Benedictine who was known for her visions and deep religious devotions. She joined the Santa Lucia Benedictine convent in Trevi in 1820 when she was twenty-one years old. She had special devotions to the Sacred Heart of Jesus as well as the Eucharist. Gertrude had multiple visions, including a vision of Jesus carrying the Cross during the Passion as well as a vision of the Sacred Heart. With her spiritual director and confessor, she was able to discern the authenticity of these visions, and many of her writings about them are preserved today.
