Bl. Frédéric Janssoone

Bl. Frédéric Janssoone was born in modern-day France in 1838. After helping care for his family in his youth, he joined the Franciscans and was ordained in 1870. He was assigned to work in the Holy Land where he both handled the administrative duties of the Franciscans there and accompanied pilgrims. Frédéric was then invited to visit the Franciscans in Canada. Even though his initial trip there had some challenges, Frédéric founded a new home in Canada where he helped spread the work of the Franciscans throughout the country. Today, the life of Bl. Frédéric can show us how to balance missionary work with administrative work and bring others closer to Christ in everything we do.
