Bl. Bartolo Longo

Bl. Bartolo Longo was a nineteenth and twentieth century Italian who is known for his return to Catholicism and his devotion to the rosary. In his twenties, Bartolo became involved in anti-Catholic movements in Italy, including satanic groups. However, with the help of friends, he eventually returned to the Catholic faith, especially with the aid of the rosary. He spent much of his life catechizing and encouraging devotion to the rosary. Bartolo was also known for his countless charitable works, including caring for the children of people in prison. In 1980, St. John Paul II called him the Apostle of the Rosary.
